Last night I noticed
A star in the sky
Looking down upon me
With a tear in its eye
And I looked back
With a tear in mine too
Two solitary souls connecting
In a world where that’s hard to do
I looked around further
I pondered why
There’s such a distance between the stars
That collectively illuminate the sky
Then I looked a little more closer to home
At the planet I’m on
And things aren’t all that much different
We are all struggling to connect and belong
I looked back up at the moon
The dictator in the sky
The brightest light of all
Standing so superior not needing to try
Where did it get its confidence from?
How did it shine that bright?
Do I have an essence inside me like that?
My own beautiful light
Its not easy to stand out
In a world full of stars
When your nothing that special
When your just made up of scars
Scars don’t have radiance
Or a glowing positive light
They are just visual reminders
Of turmoil and plight
But aren’t stars the souls of people?
That once had a life to live
And have surpassed and gained eternal knowledge
And in return their light is what they give
So wise and old
Many life times they have seen
They emit an amazing patience
A perfect sparkling gleam
But even a star must die
When its it’s time to burn out
I wonder if they are sad or fearful?
If they feel any doubt?
Or do they themselves know
It’s merely their next step
It’s just their evolution
That they trust and except
So when my time comes
And it’s my turn to light the sky
I hope that my world will make sense
And the questions that I seek answered my why’s
